Is this a stretch? Am I grasping at ghosts here? Absolutely not. More specifically it's the circle of life and death. How do I know this? Well just take a look at the letter "O". This line is what made me realize that Hu Tao is actually a genius.Īlthough the subtitle is "Oh!", Hu Tao is literally saying the letter "O". Although Paimon is afraid many times throughout the journey the traveler continually moves forward with a stoic, silent attitude. In contrast to the previous lines, this is in reference to the traveler. This direct reference to Paimon, which immediately follows the "you too, buzzing by" line confirms that Hu Tao is talking about Paimon in this line and the previous one. Paimon is guidin' the traveler to the afterlife. Who is the only character is this game that's "guidin'"? That's right, Paimon. Interesting choice of word there Hu Tao "guidin'". You may feel like this is a stretch, but the next line cements it as fact. The word choice "buzzing by" is in commentary to Paimon not being able to be quiet and "buzzing" in whenever she feels. Who could this bee? To no one's surprise I'm sure, Hu Tao is referring to Paimon with this line. The word choice "you too" implies that Hu Tao is speaking to someone else other than the butterfly. I know this is surprising, but this sets up the following lyrics and makes more sense as we go through them. Why this particular quote? Why repeat this line when Paimon has millions if not billions of other lines to choose from? Well, it turns out that this quote was chosen for the location in which it was said. More specifically, Paimon says this at the end of the archon quest released in 1.4 in front of the defiled upside down statute of the seven. Although many may assume this to be "Let's go ", Genshin veterans will immediately recognize this as a Paimon quote. Right off the bat we get a crazy throwback to 2 years ago. Let me break it down for you and hopefully you'll understand why. After days of looking through Genshin's deep lore, I think I've finally pieced it all together, and I've come to the conclusion that although many may think Hu Tao's rap is wack, turns out it goes pretty hard. Not because the delivery is off beat, but because I kept feeling like Hu Tao was trying to tell me something. I have listened to Hu Tao's rap for the past few days now and every time I do, I get this nagging headache.
